Casey Arguelles Gregory is an artist, writer, and curator based in Seattle, Washington. Born in Miami, Florida to a Cuban father and an Anglo midwestern mother, and raised in Texas in a fundamentalist church, Casey has a lifelong interest in the inherent contradictions and code switching required to bridge identities. As an artist, her primary interest is the structure of painting, how images are built and the material itself. Casey views painting, with all its traditions, as a way to explore the impact of images from personal to political. As a curator and writer, Casey is interested in promoting the labor of other artists and examining creative processes as humanizing and transformative.
